# Introduction

> Public social data as JSON, through a REST API or the Python SDK.

Go-Fetch.io fetches posts, comments, profiles and search results from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and
Google, and returns them as structured JSON. Pay as you go, billed per 1,000 results.

You send a job: a scraper and its input. We collect the public data the way a signed-out visitor sees it, with no
platform accounts, purchased sessions or CAPTCHA solving. You read the results through the API, or a signed
webhook tells you when they are ready.

## Scrapers

Each scraper is a `scraper_type` you pass when you create a job. Each one bills per result, and a result is one row
of output. Status rows cost \$0.

## The basics

* **Base URL:** `https://go-fetch.io`. Every endpoint is under `/api/v1/`.
* **Authentication:** an API key in the `X-API-Key` header. See [Authentication](https://docs.go-fetch.io/authentication.md).
* **Format:** JSON in, JSON out.
* **Python SDK:** `pip install gofetch-client` (Python 3.9 or later), then `from gofetch import GoFetchClient`. It is
  a drop-in replacement for `apify-client`; see [Migrate from Apify](https://docs.go-fetch.io/migrate-from-apify.md).
* **Other languages:** anything that can send an HTTPS request can use the REST API. There is no Node SDK; the
  JavaScript examples use `fetch`.
* **Retention:** results are deleted 5 days after collection. Job records stay while your account is active.
